Aims to achieve the following:
Master of Science in Astronomy & Space Sciences – M.Sc
Introduction
To strengthen the field of space sciences at the University of Sharjah, the Applied Physics and Astronomy Department at the College of Sciences is offering a “Master of Science in Astronomy and Space Sciences” (M.Sc in Astronomy & Space Sciences). The new program will improve employability through the development of the postgraduate skills required for a successful transition to a research role in academia or professional research centers. The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and technology will host the new program.
MSASS Educational Objectives
- Provide students with the quality education to understand the astronomical, physical world as well as space sciences concepts, and conceive the overall structure of the Universe.
- Equip students with the attributes of advanced astronomical knowledge and space sciences technologies and address future challenges in the field.
- Provide students with practical experience in space sciences research, project development, and management.
- Prepare students to engage in independent and collaborative research in University, government, and industrial sectors.
Program Delivery
The M.Sc in Astronomy & Space Sciences Program is offered in two modes:
- “Full-time” basis, which is suitable for students wishing to devote their time to their studies and research work; and
- “Part-time” basis, which is more suitable for working professionals.
The conditions of admission and duration of study for a “Full-time” basis and “Part-time” basis are given in the University of Sharjah graduate studies By-Laws.
Program Structure
To be awarded the M.Sc in Astronomy & Space Sciences degree, a student has to complete 33 credit hours distributed as in Tables 1 and 2.
