My Experience with the Nanosatellite Program by ISRO Eng. Mohamed BinAshour

After successfully completing two batches benefitting 60 officials from 33 countries, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) of the Department of Space (DOS), Government of India announced the opening of registration for the 3rd batch of the training program on nanosatellite assembly and building.

This program, named UNNATI (UNispace Nanosatellite Assembly & Training by ISRO), was announced during the Symposium to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the First United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE+50).

The 3rd batch of the UNNATI Program was conducted from October 15 -December 15, 2022, at ISRO's U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru. This two-month program allowed the participating countries to strengthen their capabilities in assembling, integrating, and testing nanosatellites. Eng. Mohamed BinAhsour from the SAASST CubeSat Laboratory was representing the United Arab Emirates. Eng. Mohamed summarized his trip during his April 05, 2023 lecture titled "My Experience with the Nanosatellite Program by ISRO." The lecture was very informative and attended by many students from the University of Sharjah. ISRO's U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), formerly known as ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), conducted the programs using its state-of-the-art satellite building facilities. The training program aims at building Nano satellites through intensive theoretical sessions and practical exposure. In addition, the training module provided participants an opportunity to assemble and test a Nano Satellite.

After the lecture, the students had the chance to visit the CubeSat Laboratory and see the Sharjah-Sat-1 engineering model with an explanation from the CubeSat engineers.
