HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al-Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al-Qasimi, the President of the American University of Sharjah, and His Excellency Prof. Hamid Majawel Al-Naimiy, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah.

Before the opening, HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan visited the research laboratories. He inquired about the different projects of the laboratories and the new Wad El-Hilou optical observatory. In addition, HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan gave valuable instructions about the location of the new radio interferometer to avoid any radio interference.

After HE Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy's introductory opening about the planetarium's new capabilities, HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan clicked on the button to officially open the SAASST planetarium with its unique 8 Velvet projectors and the new laser show projection system.
