SAASST Graduates First Batch of Summer Interns

The graduation ceremony of the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST) summer interns was an awe-inspiring celebration of their accomplishments in various space sciences research laboratories, the planetarium, and the Sharjah Optical Observatory.

The Space Weather and Ionospheric Laboratory offered interns invaluable insights into the dynamic interactions between the Sun, Earth's atmosphere, and space weather phenomena, shaping their understanding of our planet's interconnected systems. In the Radio Astronomy Laboratory, interns delved into the vast cosmic mysteries, exploring celestial objects and studying the signals emanating from distant corners of the universe at 1.8 GHz by building antennas. The Sharjah Optical Observatory, with its state-of-the-art telescopes, allowed interns to gaze into the depths of space, witnessing the wonders of distant galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, lunar impacts, and exoplanets. Finally, the planetarium provided interns with immersive visual experiences, simulating space exploration and fostering a deep appreciation for the wonders of the cosmos by building a nice interactive app. As the graduates reflected on their journey, they carried with them a profound sense of wonder and a passion for unraveling the mysteries of the universe, ready to embark on their future endeavors in the realm of space sciences.
