Signature of Sharjah-Sat-2 Agreement with Three Sharjah Government Departments

On Sep. 21, 2023, the University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology orchestrated a historic occasion as they officially signed the Sharjah-Sat-2 agreement with three vital governmental bodies: the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), the Municipality, and the Department of Planification.

This monumental agreement marks a significant step forward in the realms of satellite technology and geographic information systems (GIS) as it paves the way for the development and deployment of Sharjah-Sat-2, a 6U CubeSat engineered to deliver unparalleled spatial images with a remarkable resolution of 4.75 meters for GIS and remote sensing (RS) applications. The presence of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qassimi, the esteemed President of the University of Sharjah, elevated the occasion, highlighting the strategic importance and commitment that the university and the governmental departments hold towards technological advancement and progress in the domain of space exploration and geospatial sciences.
