SAASST Participation at the Baku National Aviation Academy Space Debris Workshop

On October 4, 2023, Prof. Ilias Fernini, the Space Sciences Department Director at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST), joined with Mrs. Aisha Al-Owais (Space Artificial Intelligence) and Mrs. Maryam Eisa (Meteorite Center), participated at a groundbreaking workshop organized by Azercosmos, the Azerbaijan Space Agency.

This significant event took place at the Baku National Aviation Academy and was centered around the crucial theme of "Space Debris Mitigation." More than 200 students from the Baku Aviation Academy attended the workshop. The gathering of experts and professionals from various space agencies and research institutions highlighted the global concern regarding the growing challenge of space debris and the urgent need for effective mitigation strategies. Prof. Fernini, recognized for his invaluable contributions to the field, shared insights from his research and experience, underscoring the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology's vital role in spearheading space debris analysis and mitigation efforts. Mrs. Aisha Al-Owais and Mrs. Maryam Eisa, both esteemed researchers from the academy, showcased their expertise and dedication to this critical field of study. Their presentations shed light on the initiatives and ongoing research carried out at the Meteorite Center and the Sharjah Optical Observatory, emphasizing the institution's commitment to advancing knowledge and Technology in space science and fostering international collaboration for a sustainable and secure future in space exploration.
