SAASST Attends the UAEU/UOS Meeting

A high delegation profile from the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) led by Prof. Ghaleb Ali AlHadrami AlBreiki, the Acting Vice Chancellor, visited the University of Sharjah (UoS) on June 08, 2023.

HE Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, welcomed the UAEU delegation and discussed the UoS strategic plans and rankings in light of its academic and research programs. Prof. Hamid mentioned that the University of Sharjah holds an esteemed position in the educational landscape, earning well-deserved recognition for its commitment to excellence in education and research. Renowned locally and internationally, the university consistently ranks among the top institutions in the United Arab Emirates and the broader Gulf region. With a diverse range of programs spanning various disciplines, the University of Sharjah offers students a comprehensive learning experience facilitated by dedicated faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. Its reputation for producing highly skilled graduates, conducting groundbreaking research, and fostering innovation have contributed to its consistent placement in prominent university rankings. The University of Sharjah continues to build upon its impressive legacy, solidifying its status as a leading educational institution in the region.

 

Prof. Ilias Fernini, the SAASST Space Sciences Director, highlighted, during its intervention, the major accomplishments of SAASST regarding the launch of Sharjah-Sat-1, the different research laboratories, as well as possible cooperation between SAASST and NSSTC, the National Space Science and Technology Center established jointly by UAEU, the UAE Space Agency, and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ICT-Fund).

 

The UAEU and UOS officials discussed potential collaborations between the two institutions regarding collaborative research projects and mutual funding. UAEU and UOS share a remarkable potential for cooperation that could benefit institutions and the academic community significantly. With their complementary strengths and resources, these two prestigious universities can foster a powerful partnership in advancing education, research, and innovation. Collaborative initiatives could involve joint research projects, knowledge exchange programs, and shared facilities, enabling faculty and students from both universities to leverage their expertise and expand their intellectual horizons.
