Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy Visits MBRSC
HE Prof. Hamid al-Naimiy, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS) and Director General of the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST) visited the Mohamed Bin Rashed Space Center (MBRSC) on Feb. 17, 2023. Prof. Mashhoor Al-Wardat and Prof. Ilias Fernini accompanied Prof. Hamid.

Active sunspot AR3213 exploded during the early hours of Feb 10, 2023, at 03:03 UT and produced two Type-III radio bursts followed by a Type-II burst.

First Signal from Sharjah-Sat-1 Detected on January 17
At 10:02 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah (UoS) successfully received the first communication signal from its first CubeSat, Sharjah-Sat-1, when it reached its orbit around the Earth.

Sharjah-Sat-1 3U+ CubeSat Launched on Jan. 03, 2023, on Transport 6 Mission
Sharjah-Sat-1 was finally launched on Jan. 03, 2023, onboard Falcon 9, Transporter 6. After a record-setting year of launch activity in 2022, SpaceX kicked off the new year on Jan. 3 with more than 110 smallsats. Sharjah-Sat-1 is a 3U+ CubeSat, carrying a primary payload consisting of an X-ray detector to study bright X-ray sources in our Galaxy and a dual camera system as a secondary, remote-sensing application payload. It is the first small satellite mission of the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST) and the University of Sharjah (UoS).
