The UAEMMN Orionids Meteor Shower Report
The Orionids are one of two meteor showers originating from the debris of comet Halley, which takes 76 years to orbit the Sun. This Meteor shower earned its name because it appears to originate or radiate from the same region of the sky as the constellation Orion.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, a delegation (Eng. Yousuf Faroukh, Eng. Ahmed Al-Tunaiji, Eng. Abdulrahman Suleiman, Eng. Mohamed Alzarooni, Eng. Ali Almajedi, and Mrs. Anoud Alzaabi) from the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) visited the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre in UAE.
Prof. Salama Dawood, President of Al-Azhar University, Visits SAASST
The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology received, on Oct. 16, 2023, the courtesy visit of Prof. Salama Dawood, the President of the prestigious Al-Azhar University. Prof. Salama was accompanied by Dr. Mahmoud Sedik, Vice-President of Postgraduate and Research, and Prof. Mohamed Galal, the Dean of the College of Engineering.
Prof. Danielle Wood from MIT Visits SAASST
The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology welcomed, on Oct. 11, 2023, the visit of Professor Danielle Wood, Assistant Professor in the Program in Media Arts & Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prof. Wood also holds a joint appointment in the MIT Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics.

SAASST Participates in STEM Major Exploration Fair organized by Amideast
On Wednesday, Oct. 04, 2023, Eng. Abdulrahman Sulaiman from the CubeSat Lab and Eng. Ahmed Altunaiji from the Rocket Propulsion and Exhaust System Lab (RPESL) represented the SAASST research laboratories in the STEM Major Exploration Fair organized by Amideast and sponsored by BOEING.

SAASST Decametric Telescope Detects Several Radio Bursts
Between Sep. 19, 2023, and Sep. 24, 2023, several radio bursts were detected using the Low-frequency Radio Telescope at SAASST. The sunspots AR3435 and AR3445 pose a continued threat of strong Earth-directed solar flares.
